7:00 PM | Limburg Theatre, Farinon College Center - A surprise guest turns an evening upside down when he interrupts a gathering of gay men in 1968 New York City. The Boys in the Band is a 2020 American drama film directed based on the 1968 play of the same name. Starring Lafayette alum Brian Hutchinson ‘93, stage, screen, and voice Actor. Followed by a moderated Q&A afterwards.
4:15 PM | OCGE 107 - Sociologist Anima Adjepong (University of Cincinnati) examines culture, identities, and social change in West Africa and the diaspora. Dr. Adjepong will discuss their book, which focuses on the cities of Houston and Ghana and Africans at home and abroad through the exploration of national and pan-African cultural politics, race, class, sexuality, and religion. This event is cosponsored by the WGSS and International Affairs programs.
All Day - Campus-Wide | Spirit Day is an annual LGBTQIA+ awareness day observed on the third Thursday in October. Promoted by GLAAD, observers wear the color purple as a visible sign of support for LGBTQIA+ youth and against bullying during National Bullying Prevention Month, as well as to honor LGBTQIA+ victims of suicide.
